The Everlasting Rock Buster

Posted by Auto_K on Monday, May 23, 2011,

Look at that Rockman go, he could stand and shoot there all day if he wanted to. Special thanks goes to Inamori Mika for this demonstration.

One of the beauties of Rockman's Rock Buster is that he has what seems to be an endless amount of ammunition. Why is this the case? Well Ockham's razor would tell you that it's a relic of the play mechanic.

Rockman Games are fundamentally run and shoot action platformers. If Rockman were to be able to run out of bullets and can't shoot, pla...

The 'Astro' in Astroman

Posted by Auto_R on Monday, May 16, 2011,

Astro is a prefix originating from the word 'ástron', which means 'of or relating to stars'. So with that, the three floating orbs in his design, the space backdrop of his battle arena, and his ultimate attack "Astro Crush" (which rains large masses from the sky), people naturally say Astroman is fundamentally a space robot. But re-evaluation of his various traits seem to suggest 'Astro' might actually be a misnomer, and that space is not the only thing about this robot.

  1. Astroman's S...

A Better Rival?

Posted by Auto_R on Friday, May 13, 2011,

Since Rockman 2, the skull has been used as Wily Castles' signature feature. Since Rockman 4, the skull has extended it's appearance into his signature super war mecha, the Wily Machine Series. Later editions of the Wily escape vehicle would also follow suit and incorporate skulls. In Rockman 8's artwork, Dr. Wily even sports a Skull belt buckle. With such a "skull fetish", why isn't Skullman Dr. Wily's main robot and Rockman's rival?

I think Skullman would make a great rival chara...

Rockman 9 Done in Rockman 7's Sprite Style

Posted by Auto_R on Sunday, May 8, 2011,

I'm a bit of a pixel artist, and I use to regularly post stuff onto the net. But it's been a long time since I last had a functional website to post stuff, so not much has been shared for a while. I'll probably start a gallery soon enough with more such sprite work. But for now, just a post to have them up for the public eye, the boss characters of Rockman 9, drawn as if to be put in Rockman 7 for the SFC.

Rightot's Forefathers

Posted by Auto_R on Sunday, May 8, 2011,

As memory serves me correctly, Inafune Kenji has stated that the original concept for "Rightot" was not his and that he felt that such a character was completely unnecessary. But being tasked to put such a character into the Rockman world, Inafune worked hard revising his design from the ground up to make him as interesting as possible. During this process, Inafune said he relied on "classic" fictional robots from his own childhood in working out Rightot's design, with aim towards a "...

And It starts...With Gum and Tape Everywhere

Posted by Auto_R on Sunday, May 8, 2011,

So thus starts what hopes to be a long series of Rockman related products from my brain. I'm still working out the kinks and learning what I can on how to use this Yola.com website thing, so expect stuff to shift around and/or change without notice. And hopefully I can deliver on a better banner as well,...As for what you can expect from this site and such, check out that "About" section.
